Seven Quick Takes on my birthday {re: Friday}

--- 1 ---

Today, as indicated above, is my birthday. I am twenty-five years old. I wrote a little blog about it, you can read it here.
--- 2 ---

My little sister is in town! We are six years and nine days apart. We've had our ups and downs, but we are truly sisters...no fight can keep us down. We've seen each other at our worst, and still love each other. I am proud to call her my one and only sister. I hope that baby G has a sister some day...and a brother or two, too.

--- 3 ---

My husband's work used to have a super awesome weekend of annual meetings / events for the spouses in January...but due to the "economy" they have combined it with the holiday party this weekend. That's a big bummer because it means less free food, drinks, and hotel rooms. I'll miss the spousal events too--as they've done away with those completely. One year we did a cake decorating class with a nice lunch and libations, another year was a scavenger hunt with shopping, and last year was an "olympic event" with bunco and adult libations in the afternoon. The upside to it all being held in one weekend (and 10 minutes from our home) is that my sister can babysit G during the evenings so that we can attend the dinner/dances together. If it had been the separate, bigger event...I don't know how we would have handled it.
--- 4 ---

We are really blessed that my husband has a job. Period.

--- 5 ---

My Advent goal of attending daily mass on Wednesday is going strong. This week's mass lasted like 30 minutes because all of 12 people were there...I guess they were all holding out for the Holy Day of Obligation on Thursday. Yes, we also attended mass then. So you would be correct in assuming that baby G has made it successfully through 3 masses this week. For a nine and a half month old who has the wiggle in her blood, I'm really proud of her.

My bloggy friend, Mandi, had her baby! She was 1 week and a day past her due date. As some of you may know about me, I am very much pro-natural birth...so for her to not be induced despite being "past-due" makes me really proud :-) I'm mostly just really glad, though, that her little family is healthy!

I made a hot dog mac & cheese casserole last night and it is soooooo good. Click here to check out my adapted recipe from the Rachael Ray version.

  1. Aw, thanks! To be honest, the waiting was very difficult but I didn't even consider induction and was really worried that I would be persuaded to have one after 42 weeks (that's the general policy of the birth center I was at, although they do let you wait it out if you are insistent and everything still looks healthy). I hate the idea of "evicting" a baby if he/she isn't ready yet!
