Catholic Family Gifts Review & Giveaway

Several weeks ago, I was approached by a lovely online Catholic store. They offered me the opportunity to review an item for Letters from Momma. There was a lot to choose from, but I ultimately decided on something for G that I knew she would treasure as she grows up.

I chose a pale pink music box that has an insert card with the night time prayer my husband has said with our daughter (Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep--we say a variety of prayers at night). The melody played is Brahm's Lullaby.

The Sankyo music mechanism is visible through a clear protective plate, and I think that's G's favorite feature--aside from the actual music itself. She enjoys opening and closing the box to check if it's still turning. Thankfully, the craftsmanship seems sturdy enough to withstand a toddler's gentle force. I wouldn't recommend letting a super-rambunctious child alone with it, but G's mild-mannered enough that, under supervision, she can play with it to her heart's content.

There's a little velvet-lined compartment inside, perfect for a few pieces of jewelry, rosaries, or other keepsake items. The prayer card is removable, so a personal photo or message may be inserted into the cover of the music box. I like to think that music boxes are timeless, so perhaps my future grandchildren might even enjoy this item!

This particular gift may not seem Catholic specific, but most of the other options are. My back-up choices were a wooden 'die' that had several different meal prayers on it or a large wooden bead rosary for children. I still might end up buying the rosary for G and NB, but perhaps they'll get them as gifts ;-)

CatholicFamilyGifts.com is a wonderful online shop that offers something for every Catholic gift-giving occasion, and items you may simply want to purchase for yourself (like the St. Joseph Homeseller Kit). The online shop is actually an extension of the owner's brick & mortar store in Northern Illinois. They have 6 kids and serve the Church's mission in a variety of capacities. You can read more about them on the website.

If you have a baptism, first communion, &/or confirmation to attend in the upcoming months, be sure to check out the Gift Giving Tab on CatholicFamilyGifts.com. It offers suggestions for each occasion, and includes books listed by popular authors--if a book is what seems fitting.

I like that Catholic Family Gifts' product assortment doesn't stop there. They offer holiday, wedding, RCIA, and teen gift categories. There are the traditional Patron Saint medals and also imprint-able bibles. If there seems to be too much to choose from and you just can't make up your mind...might I suggest simply giving a CatholicFamilyGifts.com gift certificate! Then you know that the gift-receiver understands your faith-filled gift-intention and can pick something out for him or herself.

  2. It would be a tough decision because they are all great options but I would probably choose the children's rosary to give to my godchild or the table grace die because I think it would be nice to have around the dinner table!
