This week I am grateful for the following things.

1. My husband's job. Even though he had to work Saturday morning and stay late a few days last week, it is a great job. He is good at it, and it provides for us. It allows me to stay home with baby G and for that, I'm really grateful. The benefits are good and there are many vertical opportunites for my husband.

2. Good coffee. I used to be a big caffine-addict...but now, for some reason, when I need it most, I haven't been drinking it much at all. Maybe 2 times a month. Recently, though, we started using out home coffee pot again. Folgers Gourmet Select was on sale and I bought some pumpkin spice creamer at Aldi. It's no PSL from Starbucks, but it is still really good. And I feel like a more efficient human. Ha.

3. Bulb Syringes. Gross, and not fun to use...but it's helping get the yuckies out of G's nose. She's got a cold right now and it's NO fun for anyone. I never thought I'd want to use the blue thing, and neither did my husband, but it works. Poor baby girl.

4. Coupons, Target, & our local grocery store We made our weekly food budget this week, thanks to some GREAT coupons. I also like that Target lets you stack manufacturers' coupons with store coupons. Charmin toilet paper was already $2 off, and then we got $2 more dollars off from coupons. Hooray! Our local grocery store was having a great one-day sale yesterday. We got a free slice of gourmet pumpkin pie, $2.50 off Wholly Guacamole, $1/lb strawberries, $1/pack of raspberries, $2.99 16 oz. organic salad, and some other sweet deals. PLUS they were having "holiday" sample day; so we got turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, holiday ham, pumpkin praline pie, fudge, crusted fish, fancy cheese, yogurt, and some chicken dish. It was AWESOME. I bet you got bored reading this paragraph, but I'm really grateful for good deals and delicious food!

5. Hoodie weather. I love fall, as I've mentioned before, so the weather between warm and freezing (also known as "chilly") is my favorite! You know, the weather where you can wear just a tee-shirt, jeans, & a hoodie and still be cozy. No need for a coat. That weather won't last long around here, so I'm soaking it all up now!

Sunday 5 Gratitude

Sorry this is late today! We've been doing something every weekend for the past few weeks...it's a nice change of pace from our normal lazy weekends.

These are my Sunday Five Gratitudes this week.

1. Good friends, with whom we have a lot it common. We went to our old town to stay with another couple whose baby is a week younger than G. We have similar values and family styles. We both breastfeed, use cloth diapers, and stay home. Though we do different parenting techniques, we appreciate our differences (AP vs not, mostly). It was a lot of fun to eat together, let the babies play together, go swinging, and play games at night. I like to say our girls are BFFs, but maybe Rachel and I are BFFs too ;)

2. My husband. I guess this may show up every week...but that's a good thing, right? To be appreciative of your husband can never be bad. He is a great provider and comforter... He is my "idea-bouncer-off-er-guy" and a good sound board. He listens and offers constructive advice. It helps that he loves me no matter what and is proud of me. Plus he said I can do something this week that you should all get excited about!!

3. Andy's Frozen Custard. Petty, but still... It was soooo good! I got the Pumpkin Pie Concrete. They take their made fresh hourly vanilla custard and mix it with a whole slice of pumpkin pie. Can't beat it.

4. G slept pretty good last night. It was the first time in almost 2 months that I haven't nursed her one time at night. She woke at 10:30 and needed comforting, but was able to go back to sleep without nursing. Win. She woke up at 3:30 but also returned to sleep without needing me. Amazing. I hope her sleep continues in this direction and she starts sleeping all the way through. Doubt this will happen, though, because she gets shots tomorrow and her top 4 teeth are swollen and near the surface.

5. My dad. I hadn't seen him since Labor Day, but got to see him a bit today. He loves G to pieces, and she loves him too. They're sweet together. I wish my parents lived closer. I miss them both. I'm really thankful for my dad and hope things improve for him and my mom.

Sunday Five - Gratitude

This week I am thankful for:

The wonderful weather yesterday and the afternoon of fun that my husband's job provided for us. We went to a local cider mill for a free lunch and admission to the pumpkin patch/corn maze/etc... We went last year too, but the baby was still in my belly, so I'm thankful we were able to share the experience with her! We met up with another family, so that was nice to let the babies interact.

My husband's cousins are coming down today, for more than just the evening, so they'll get to play with G. I'm really thankful we like hanging out so much! We have plenty in common and they love the baby. I'm hoping we'll get to take her to the park, too. I'm making baked potato soup for dinner--yum!

I'm thankful for G sleeping "okay" last night. I'll post sleep logs later, so you'll see what I mean. It wasn't a great night, but I did get to sleep from 10:50 to 5:20, and 5:45 - 7 (due to my husband getting up to volunteer at the pancake breakfast) so I'll take that.

I'm thankful for my husband's job. I bought a LOT of groceries yesterday because I am feeding two other people today and Tuesday...thankfully we have the money to feed others. I'm happy to share what we have, even if it's not a lot.

I'm thankful for our health. Cliche or not, we are pretty healthy people, and I thank God for that today.

Sunday 5 - Gratitude

This Sunday I am thankful for the following five fantastic things:

My mom came to stay with us in the hotel at the wedding we attended yesterday. My husband and I were able to attend the rehearsal dinner together and stay later at the reception because she baby sat G. It was also really nice to spend time with her on Saturday while my husband was doing groomsmen things. We walked around a craft fair and chatted. I'm lucky to have her & G loves her to pieces!

she doesn't have quite enough hair for the bow Grammy got her
My marriage is amazing, and better than ever. I am glad I have someone to carry the bags to the car, drive on trips, hold my hand, dance with, kiss in the morning, eat with, talk to, cry on, and raise our baby girl with.

G has 2 bottom teeth about half of the way out, and one on the way up top. This is a crappy experience for the most part...but I'm really grateful for her development and moving in the right direction. We are blessed!

I learned my lesson about feeding a baby prunes. Disgusting diapers will result, including 3 am. I'm grateful that it's over!!

our dear friends who entered into marriage yesterday
and finally, that the Church is alive in many of our friends, including those married yesterday. I hope they have a marriage full of unity, peace, and love. I also got to speak with a seminarian at length yesterday, as we were seated at the same table for dinner. I pray for all to listen to their vocation & trust in God's plan for their life.

Sunday Five - Gratitude post

I have many things to be thankful for this Sunday--and always! I wanted to share some of them, because I have been known to be a bit mope-y here sometimes. God is SO good and He deserves all of the praise. Does the Sunday 5 - Gratitude exist somewhere already? If not, I'm creating one!

1. The weather has been absolutely beautiful this weekend. Yesterday we took G to the local arboretum. She rode on daddy's back and enjoyed looking at all of the new plants and trees. We were there at a good time, too, because the city orchastra was putting on a free concert. We listened to that for a while and she behaved wonderfully.

2. My husband is an amazing man. We have a clean bathroom and I didn't have to lift a finger! I love that he does that for me. He also gave me a fantastic back massage and helped out so much this weekend. Also, see number 5 below...I'm so grateful he is allowing me the night off tomorrow! Love him <3

3. We are going on a fun date this afternoon. Our new gym membership includes a rock climbing wall--it's actually many walls with lots of different path options. G will play at the childcare facility while we hang out alone :-)

4. G behaved great while we were greeters this morning before mass. She rode on daddy's back again while we passed out the Liturgy Guides and said good morning to fellow parishioners. She was a super wiggle worm during church, but nothing we couldn't handle. Win-Win.

5. I have a ladies night planned tomorrow with my husband's cousin's wife. It's the first time since becoming a momma that I have gotten out of the house to meet up with another lady! It's also the first time my husband has done bedtime by himself. Good luck to him on that one! We are doing ladies' night at the Melting Pot (a fondue place). It comes with salad, cheese fondue, and chocolate fondue. I'm so excited!!
