If you read my Thirsties Fab Fitted, Duo Wrap, and Hemp Insert review, you know how much I love Thirsties! They make cloth diapers and accessories that are eco-friendly, made in the USA, and sourced locally. The customer service I have received at Thirsties is top-notch, and I'm excited for the opportunity to bring you another review of their products.
For the past month we have been using Thirsties Fab Wipes, Booty Luster, and Booty Love.
My Review
Fab Wipes - Washable baby wipes; cost-effective & eco-friendly alternative to disposable wipes
Material. Thirsties Fab Wipes are two sided. One side is velour (85% cotton 15% polyester), and is what I consider to be the 'starter' side for getting the messies cleaned up. It helps you get a thorough clean because it is gently textured. The other side is microfiber (100% polyester) and it's great for finishing off baby G's diaper change in a buttery smooth manner. I think the quality materials and plush feel of the Fab Wipes set them apart from using baby wash clothes as wipes.
Fab Wipes: Ocean Blue, Meadow, Mango, Honeydew, White, Meadow Booty Luster, Booty Love |
Size. The Fab Wipes come in an 8 x 8" square size. This seems to be the consistent wipe size for the various brands I have been researching (although a few offer 10 x 10" squares). I have found the size to be perfect for cleaning up both wet and dirty diapers, with just one Fab Wipe (I've learned to be efficient with my wipe/fold method). I really like the surged, rounded edge--I think it is more useful than a squared edge.
Durability. The quality of all Thirsties diapers I've tried is second to none, and the Fab Wipes are no different. They are holding up great to daily use; they feel just like when I took them out of the package. I expect they will last through G's diaper days and our next baby, too. The best thing about the Fab Wipes is that they are 2-ply. I trust them to always get the job done while cleaning up G's diaper area. I love that I can use just one wipe, versus 2+ that I would use with disposable wipes.
Washing. I throw the wipes in the pail with our diapers until washing day, and then they get washed together. I have not sprayed the wipes off before tossing them in, but they come out looking just like new anyway. Thirsties' washing instructions for the Fab Wipes are the same as for their diapers, so rest assured following your normal routine.
Booty Luster - Solution mist for use with cloth wipes; aids in gently cleaning baby's diaper area
Ingredients. Aloe Vera, Vitamin E, water-based Extract of Coconut, Honey, Grapeseed Extract, traces of Glycerin, Avocado Oil, Humectant Moisturizers, and other Organic Ingredients. Thirsties Booty Luster is free of petroleum, alcohols, animal products, parabens, sulfates, DPGs, or any dilutants. It is never tested on animals.
I love that the Booty Luster offered by Thirsties is completely non-toxic and contains natural ingredients. I know a lot of cloth diaper moms make their own wipe spray, but I trust Thirsties to provide me with a product that is natural, safe for my baby and convenient to use. Just remember to shake the bottle before spraying to blend all the ingredients back together!
Cleansing Capabilities. Booty Luster is formulated to restore the skin's natural barrier against bacteria, without irritating it. It has not caused baby G any redness on her sensitive skin. I like that it loosens dirty messes gently, so that when combined with the Fab Wipes, it's able to clean her without me having to rub her raw.
Scent. The only thing that I don't love about the Booty Luster is the scent. It doesn't smell bad at all, it just takes some getting used to. I think it may be the coconut, because I'm not a huge fan of that, but you may love it. Regardless of your scent preferences, we can all be glad that Thirsties doesn't include unnecessary ingredients to add a special fragrance to the Booty Luster.
Booty Love - Cloth Diaper Safe Ointment; certified organic
Ingredients. Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Beeswax, Oregon Grape Root, Myrrh Gum, Yarrow Herb, Calendula Flower
I love that it's certified organic and I can clearly understand the above ingredients...nothing unnatural about this ointment. The ingredients make Booty Love very easy to smooth on, and I only need about a nickel-sized amount to cover G's diaper area.
Rash/Redness prevention. Baby G used to get pretty red in some diapers, and she's had some bad looking rashes (never the open sore kind though, thank goodness). I think all of that was mostly due to our detergent build-up that we have since fixed. But even after switching to our great cloth diaper safe detergent, G still got a little red or occasionally rashy. Using Booty Love cures that. I smooth some of this ointment on her diaper area and the redness is cleared up at the next diaper change. It soothes her skin and helps to prevent rashes from occurring. She hasn't had a rash since we started using it.
Cloth diaper safe. I used to put G in disposables when I had to use rash cream. It seemed like the only way to protect my cloth diapers from losing absorbency due to diaper rash cream that wouldn't wash out. I was sooo excited when Thirsties sent me some of their new Booty Love because it is cloth diaper safe!! It washes out clean and doesn't leave residue on the diapers. No more disposables or Destin for us! Plus, how fun is the name--when I ask my husband to hand it to me, I get a kick out of saying "Boooty Luuuuv."
You can purchase Thirsties Fab Wipes, Booty Luster, and Booty Love from many retailers; see their "where to buy" tab. Check out Thirsties' website to request or download the current catalog so that you can find out all about their awesome diapers and accessories. I got one with my accessories, and I have to tell you, there is something so fun about browsing fluff on paper (especially when it's VOC free and made from post-consumer content)! Thirsties also has an active Facebook page.

I use cloth wipes part time (Bummas). I still use disposable wipes for poopy messes because the cleanup is easier.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try a duo diaper in cool stripes, with snap closures.
ReplyDeleteYes, I use cloth wipes because it's easier to just toss everything in the pail together, and it saves money! Mine are made by a WAHM.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try a fab fitted!
ReplyDeleteI don't currently use any wipes! Not because I don't wipe my baby's bum but because I don't yet have a baby's bum to wipe! I do plan to use cloth wipes when I have the opportunity! :)

ReplyDeleteDo you currently use cloth wipes? No Why or why not? We have been only started using cloth a few months ago and I would have never been able to talk my husband into using cloth wipes than.

ReplyDeleteI'd love to try their Thirsties Duo Diapers
ReplyDeleteI do use cloth wipes because it just makes more sense, I used them wrap them up with the dirty diaper and toss it all in the pail. I make my own cloth wipes and also use wash cloths as cloth wipes.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in their duo diaper. =)
ReplyDeleteNo I don't use cloth wipes. Mostly because my husband won't get on board.
ReplyDeleteDuo diaper with the owls
ReplyDeleteI'm really interested in trying out the Duo Fab Fitted.
ReplyDeleteI love the Thirsties duo diaper in Blackbird!

We plan on using cloth wipes when we have our baby. We like it because it is better for baby and the environment!
ReplyDeleteThe duo diaper is great! Warm Stripes is a great print.
ReplyDeletemeagsgiveaway@gmail.com
We are just starting to use cloth wipes, I have a few different brands we got in a sample pack to try. We also have some Target facecloths we're using as makeshift wipes.
ReplyDeleteThe doublers. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe haven't yet, mainly because of my husband's "ew" factor. I want to try them though--he can keep using the disposable, lol.
ReplyDeleteI like the duo-hemp-prefold

I would love to try a fab fitted. I have their other diapers and love them.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what brand my cloth wipes are. I've had them so long. We love them :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try a duo diaper
ReplyDeleteI use baby washcloths as cloth wipes... I love them, but they aren't very soft :(
ReplyDeleteThirsties Duo Wraps and Fab Doublers
ReplyDeleteI just use baby wash cloths that I got at Target :) Probably Circo brand.
ReplyDeleteI love thirsties products! I have a duo fab fitted, a duo cover, and some fab wipes! Such great products. I really want to try a duo diaper and an aio duo diaper when they come out!! I can't wait.
ReplyDeleteI would like to try the fab fitteds. I have never used fitted diapers as of yet.
ReplyDeleteWe do use cloth wipes and I love them! It's way easier to wrap up the wipe in the diaper and throw it in the washer than have to go through dirty diapers and put the wipes into the garbage. My favorites are the Itti Bitti wipes and the Thirsties wipes. I think they are very similar.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in learning more about the new Thirsties Duo AIO diaper they just debuted! Looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteI use cloth wipes about 24% of the time. I have a large assortment including Kissaluvs, Thirsties, BG, and mostly ones that I made that are flannel on one side and a soft cotton courdoroy on the other. I havn't gotten the hang of them for poopy messes mainly blame it on not finding a solution I prefer yet I think!
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE the new Duo Diaper! When we bought they only had the covers. This is awesome!

I currently use cloth wipes. We tried commercial for a while and they just weren't gentle on my guy's skin. I'm not sure what the brand is. They're made from organic cotton made by a local woman.
ReplyDeleteI use thirsties wipe right now and they are amazing! I only have a few of them so the rest of the time we use baby wash cloths. They are not as nice as thirsties wipes at all!
ReplyDeletelove the cover in orchid :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to try out one of the new fitteds!
ReplyDeleteI do use cloth wipes, and I love them. Sposie wipes drive me crazy, tearing as the come out of the container. Cloth wipes I can warm under the tap as I need them, and it only takes one or two for a big mess whereas it would take 5 sposie wipes. I think mine are Eli's Wipes mostly, but I have had most of them going on 6 years now, so I can't really remember!
ReplyDeleteI would love to try the Thirsties duo diaper in the hoot color. It's cute and I love sleeve diapers, so I'd really like to try this one.
ReplyDeleteI don't use cloth wipes right now. I guess the reason I don't is because I'm just in the habit of using disposables, as bad as that is. Occasionally, we use a washcloth and warm soapy water.
ReplyDeleteI'd try the Super Wash
ReplyDeleteWe don't, but only because our LO isn't here yet! I'm in the middle of making some from quartering inexpensive washcloths
ReplyDeleteI would love to try the duo diaper.
ReplyDeleteI would love to try the Duo in the hoot pattern :)
ReplyDeleteI want to try the duo diaper.

I am using baby wash cloths as wipes right now.
ReplyDeleteklshrrs at gmail dot com
I would love to try their fitteds.
ReplyDeleteI use the booty luster and just haven't been able to afford the wipes.
ReplyDeleteI use a generic cloth wipe, I can't remember the name! I love that it saves us money and is better for the baby. We do send disposables to daycare though.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to try their Duo Hemp Prefold -- love natural fibers. ngiraldi at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteI use cloth wipes at home. (admit to disposables for out and about) We have mostly Thirsties Fab wipes, with some custom wipes as well. I must admit my favorites are the flannel, but the Fab Wipes are super soft --- just wish they came in prints to hide the stains :/ ngiraldi at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteI would like to try their duo diaper

ReplyDeleteWe currently CD with a mostly mama-made stash. Better for or wallets and better for our planet! -sharon M
ReplyDeletewould love to try fab fitteds
ReplyDeletei do currently use cloth wipes, because it just makes sense to not have to dispose of anything separate. we have used disposable wipes in the past or when traveling and it's always a pain if they accidentally get put in the wash with the diapers, they come apart and leave pieces in the diapers. we use Osocozy unbleached.
ReplyDeleteThirsty's duo
ReplyDeleteI would love to try the duo diaper! :) My favorite print is the alice brights.
ReplyDeleteI do use cloth wipes, because they save soo much money! I currently use the cheap baby wash cloths as my cloth wipes, but would love to try these. :)
ReplyDeleteThe hemp inserts look awesome
ReplyDeleteI would love to try the duo diaper. Also the hemp inserts!
ReplyDeleteI do use cloth wipes and I just use wash cloths
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in trying out the hemp inserts.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try out the thirsties duo wrap with snap closures. I'm curious as to how well they'd work on a newborn with only 2 growth sizes
ReplyDeleteI want to try the Fab Fitteds and wipes!
ReplyDeleteI don't use cloth wipes yet. I am nervous to try it...seems extra messy but I am very curious to see how well they work
