Thirsties Duo All-in-One Review & cloth diaper #Giveaway

I think it's safe to say that I've tried every diaper option Thirsties currently sells. As you've probably read in my other Thirsties reviews, they are my go-to brand because they have something for everyone and every occasion! If you are having night time issues, add a Thirsties hemp prefold for super absorbency power. If you are a pocket dipe lover, look into their Duo Diaper. The latest in diapering options from the Colorado based company is a Duo All-in-One diaper. When I heard they were coming out with an AIO, I imagined it to be like the Fab Fitted, but with a tried and true Thirsties Duo Wrap attached to the outside for the waterproof feature. Duo All in One Diaper 

$15.75 solid colors - $16.75 prints, AWESOME price, especially for a Made in the USA diaper!!

Material.  Thirsties products are free of VOC’s, PVC, phthalates, & lead. The AIO features a waterproof cover made of 100% polyester with urethane coating. The inside liner is 100% polyester microfleece and the soaker is 3 layers of 100% microfiber terry. It comes in adorable colors like mango or meadow, prints like warm stripes or black bird. There are many more color and print choices--check out the Thirsties website for all of the options. We were sent the Hoot print for review & I like having a gender neutral diaper that's also a print! The inside feels super soft and is gentle against G's skin. It's quite absorbent and lasts for the average 2 hours of use, but I'd add a doubler for nap/night time use.

Closure. The snaps used on all Thirsties products are great--they are sturdy and stay closed very well (they don't just pop open when you tug on the diaper, like some another brands we've experienced). I recently had a broken snap issue on a Duo Wrap, but Thirsties has great customer service and is sending me a replacement right away. I know nothing can be perfect, and I'm actually really pleased that in nearly 15 months of cloth diapering (always using one Thirsties product or another), we've had one issue. Thirsties Duo All in One also come in aplix hook and loop closure, but I can't offer a review of that quality because we are snaps people in our house.

Size. Thirsties offers Duo sizes for nearly all of their products. The diapers are split into two sizing categories (rather than small, medium, large) to reduce the number of total diapers you need to buy. Thirsties Duo sizes offer a happy middle ground between the one-size fits all options that we all know don't truly 'fit all,' and the perfect size systems that require you to buy sizes for every stage of diapering. Duo Sizes offer a decently tailored fit with less extra-fabric than OS diapers on the snapped down sizes.
Size 1 is estimated to fit from birth to 9 months old at 6 - 18 pounds. Size 2 is estimated to fit from 9 to 36 months old at 18 - 40 pounds. I've found this to be pretty accurate. Baby G was in Duo Size 1 from birth (over 8 pounds) until she hit about 17 pounds, and then I moved her up to Duo Size 2 because we needed more rise for her long torso. She is about 21 pounds now, with one snap down, and we use the smallest waist setting. Of course, your baby may fit differently based on body shape.

Style & Use. The tunnel design of Thirsties All in One, like their Fab Fitted, is what sets this diaper apart from other brands of all in one diapers. There is no 'flap' piece to tuck under or fold over. You take the diaper from where ever it was stored and fasten it onto your child. That's it. Literally as easy as a disposable diaper. When you take it off after use, it's a simple toss in your diaper pail until wash day. Follow your normal routine (use hot water, no bleach or vinegar, etc...) and dry in the dryer or on a line. Thanks to the tunnel design, it dries a lot faster than some other AIOs that take forever to dry due to all the layers that can't get a lot of air flow. My only complaint is that it does not feature the dual gussets that I love so much on the Duo Wrap. The elastic in the waist and leg bands are great, I just really like the extra leak protection offered with gussets.

After using this diaper many times in the 2 weeks we've had it, I'm convinced I would have made my whole stash Thirsties Duo All in One diapers...had they been around when I started. I actually said the following aloud while putting it on G the other day, "I love how easy this diaper is!" (I'm sure she thought to herself, 'crazy lady...loving a diaper, potty train me already!') I had just pulled it from a basket of unfolded diapers because it is always ready to be used. If my entire stash were made of Thirsties AIO, I would never have that basket of unfolded diapers, I'd have a changing table full of easy to use, fasten-on-baby-and-you're-done disposable CLOTH diapers. Of course, I'd also have a few Thirsties hemp inserts for the times when G needs added absorbency (like nap time), which can easily be tucked into the tunnel part of the AIO. Thirsties Duo All in One Diaper is so easy to use, even a date-night-babysitter can't complain!
