G will be getting a little brother or sister for Christmas this year! They will be 22 months apart, which is a bit closer than I'd prefer, but it's really something God had his hand in.
The long and short of it is that this baby was neither planned nor unplanned. We left it up to God and we couldn't be more excited now. We'd like 3 kids and are glad to be young parents. G loves babies and other kids, I know she will be a great big sister. She's nearly weaned (just went down to 1 feeding--before bed--today) and will probably be potty trained by the end of the summer. She really doesn't seem like a baby at all. Her lack of real-word-talking is really the only thing that reminds us just how young she is at 15 months.
There are actually two other couples from our original Bradley Birth Method class that are expecting within a month of us--so that's very exciting! Another interesting fact is that several people (all female) have commented that they knew I was pregnant before I told them. I thought I was doing a good job of keeping it secret, but I guess they just had a women's intuition about the matter.
So my official due date is December 24, 2012, based on an early sonogram I convinced the doctor to do because I informed her that dating by my last period would give me an inaccurate date (12/5). Knowing your body, and utilizing NFP-style records is really the best way to get a due date (aside from the highly accurate early sonogram). We saw a heartbeat at 7 weeks and 3 days, which is actually the same time we saw G's. I tried to compare pictures, but when they are that small it's tough to tell anything.
We are, publicly, hoping for a boy to balance things out; but I assume this baby is a girl too. We have families full of girls, so I'm not betting on a boy. I also think he or she will be born on 12/18 because it is the Tuesday before my due date (and is several relatives' birthday). We are a family of Tuesday birthdays over here.
My pregnancy has been almost identical to my first one--except I've gained a lot more weight than I did with the first one. The doctor and I attribute it to eating to combat nausea and weaning G. I'm still exercising--and plan to join a gym to get me out of the heat, which will also be good for G, who desperately needs time with other toddlers.
My only regret with this pregnancy is that I'm not near family or my beloved midwife...or our family practitioner for that matter. Our hope is to be back in the area before this baby is born, but only time will tell. My husband loves his job and company, and a move back to Kansas will only happen if they encourage it.
Anyhoo, now that you all know I'm pregnant...you'll understand my sporadic posting and food obsessions :-)
I hope to do a baby-themed review/giveaway event this Fall, so cross your fingers for some great sponsors!
CONGRATULATIONS! That is such wonderful news! I am so happy for you and your family! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Such a blessing :-)
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! That is so exciting. God's timing is always perfect! I am sure Gianna will love having a little brother/sister so close in age. :-)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! 22 months apart sounds great, they'll be little buddies!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! :) You have the same due date as my Step-daughter! And we are expecting another girl in September! We have a little girl and wanted a boy this time, but we are just so happy to be having a healthy baby!! (It is a little strange being pregnant the same time as my step-daughter, but she is 25 and married and we knew it could happen at any time.)
ReplyDeleteOhh I am so excited for you! Congrats!! :D
