Seventh Generation Natural Dish Liquid Review & Kitchen Pack Giveaway

This review (and giveaway) is long overdue. The benefit to the tardiness of this post is that I have been using the Seventh Generation Natural Dish Liquid to get our dishes clean for over a month. I feel very confident recommending this product to you!

I hand wash baby G's toys, breast pump accessories, bottles/sippy cups, and high chair tray. I prefer to use non-toxic or 'free & clear' soaps with her items. I also always wash our pots and pans by hand. I like to use sponges and scour pads on our items, but prefer a gentle wash cloth for the baby's items. I was in serious luck when My Blog Spark sent me a Seventh Generation kitchen pack for review, because it included all of my favorite items--in eco-friendly or organic options!

My Review

Naturally Great Scents. I love the scents offered by Seventh Generation for their natural dish liquid! The scents are derived from whole essential oils and botanical extracts. My experience with previous dish liquid scents are nothing compared to what I'm having with the Seventh Generation products. Even my husband commented on how great they smell. Our favorite is the Fresh Citrus and Ginger. It smells just like a fresh lemon...because it actually has lemons from Sicily in it! It's energizing, so it's great for when I wash dishes in the morning. We also love the Lemongrass and Clementine Zest, which has clementines from Italy in the essential oils. It smells very sweet and makes the kitchen smell like someone just ate an orange. The Lavender Floral & Mint is calming. I know my mom will love using it when she comes to visit, because she loves lavender scents and doing my dishes (just kidding about that last part)! It features lavender from the foothills of the Alps, in Drome, France. Because even the scented liquids are all hypoallergenic and non-toxic, I have used them on baby G's items if I don't feel like getting two bottles out. I do still prefer to use the Free & Clear products on her things, though, so I'm glad Seventh Generation provides that option in their dish liquid.

Natural Grease Fighting Power. The dish liquids fight grease and caked on food scraps as well as non-plant based brands I'm used to. The Seventh Generation Natural Dish Liquids are better for the environment, though, because they aren't made from petroleum--they feature plant-derived cleaning agents.

Naturally Softens Water. We have really hard water, but it's not a problem with Seventh Generation Natural Dish Liquids. Plant-derived water softeners remove water hardness and help to maintain pH balance in your dish washing water.

Safe & Better for the Environment. My favorite thing about Seventh Generation is that they share the full ingredient list with their customers, because everything is understandable or put into "plain English." The natural dish liquids are non-toxic, free of dyes & synthetic fragrances, and made of a biodegradable formula. Check out everything that is in their natural dish liquid by visiting their website.
"If every household in the U.S. replaced just one bottle of 25 oz. petroleum-based dishwashing liquid with our plant-derived product, we could save 5.2 million gallons of oil, the equivalent to removing 8,900 cars from the road for one year." - seventhgeneration.com
Easy to clean dish & quality sponge
I also can highly recommend the other products that come in the kitchen pack. The Le Creuset baking dish is a high quality pan to make and serve casseroles, lasagnas, or anything else that calls for a 3 qt pan. I've made a chicken cordon bleu casserole in it and also a breakfast casserole. It has not scratched or stained, and is a breeze to clean. When using the other cleaning items in the kitchen pack, there was no heavy scrubbing necessary. I also really like the pretty green color--it's attractive enough to serve out of in the middle of the table when company comes.

Top: Sponge Loofah after over 1 month
Bottom: new, in package sponge loofah
The Twist sponge loofahs are amazing. I use my sponges pretty hard, and these are holding up better than I expected for something plant based! I really like the scrubbing power of the loofah--better than my normal scrub/scour sponges. I have rarely had to break out the Twist scour pads because the Seventh Generation Natural Dish Liquid does a great job of combining with the loofahs to easily clean our dishes. When I have used the scour pads, they work just as well as any other scour pad I've used--but these are made from plants; not oil! When it comes time to wash the baby's items, I call on our new Full Circle 100% organic dish cloths. They are gentle but strong--and better quality than our non-organic dish cloths. I think any Letters from Momma reader would be just as in love with these products as I am--so be sure to enter the giveaway at the bottom of this review.
