VIDEO: Our Cloth Wipe Routine {so far}

I haven't really done much research on the proper method for using cloth wipes. I'm actually kind of going into it blindly. I'd love to hear your suggestions or personal routine, though, so feel free to leave me a comment.

We've been using our Thirsties cloth wipes for over a month now, but we have still been using disposable wipes, because we obviously don't have enough cloth ones yet. Although 10 Planet Wise wipes did arrive in the mail Friday, though, so now we have 16! Woooooo!
I was going to type out how we are using cloth wipes, but then decided a video would be a better idea. Here's what I've been doing at diaper changes when using a cloth wipe:

  1. Oh gosh, you made it more complicated than it has to be! Just make some homemade wipe solution, fold a bunch of wipes, pour the solution over it (I keep them in an old Huggies wipe container) and let them soak overnight. Next day, you have a container full of wipes ready to go. I use 2 cups of water, a squirt of baby shampoo, a couple drops of almond oil (any food oil will do), and a couple of drops of tea tree essential oil. There are a ton of variations for wipe solutions. I usually only have to use 1 wipe per poopy diaper change, and my baby is still breastfed so it's messy. I love cloth wipes!

  2. I use cloth wipes the same way I do disposables when it comes to wiping, simple, no fuss or mess. I wet wipe in running tap water as my little one has sensitive skin. She is breastfeed and on quite a bit of solids.

  3. Oh cool! I don't cloth diaper but I am pretty interested in cloth wipes. I still use disposable ones... can you save a lot of money this way?

    Thanks for your comment on my BFing post - I am going to try to find yours. I have heard about the Target story (makes me sad - I love target) but I really need to find an article and read more about it!! It's hard to believe people can be so ignorant about BFing!

  4. Thanks for the video. It looks like a good way to use only one wipe, just not sure how well it works with a very squirmy baby. I'll have to give it a try though.
