Homemade Cinnamon Rolls
personal recipe
Ingredients:
2 c flour
4 tsp baking powder
3 tbsp sugar
1/2 c shortening
1 egg
2/3 c milk
1 tbsp cinnamon
Filling:
3/4 c brown sugar
3 tbsp melted butter
1 tbsp cinnamon
dash of nutmeg
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Combine dry ingredients, cut in shortening and then make a well in the center. Beat egg with milk and pour into the well. Combine until moistened.
Knead 20 times and roll out on floured board (1/2 - 3/4" thickness). Make filling and spread over dough.
Roll up (jelly-roll style) and cut into desired thickness (8-10 rolls).
Place in a greased round cake pan (or on a baking sheet if you prefer). (I line my pan with foil, for easier clean up)
Cook for about 20 minutes, or until browned.
If desired, serve covered with powdered sugar glaze.

ReplyDeleteYum! Those look amazing!
ReplyDeleteLooks great. I'm trying to recreate my grandmother's recipe for cinnamon buns. She was a professional baker but never wrote anything down. I'm writing about my journey at http://ubccinnamonbun.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteNow I want to try these. I make some Amish cinnamon rolls, they take quite awhile to make but they use instant vanilla pudding in the mix so they are real moist and good. Of course, I always put more cinnamon and brown sugar on mine...I put lots. I'll give these a try. Thanks for the recipe!
