BFBBP: Londonware Etsy Shop - diaper cover & leg warmer giveaway

I have been using cloth diapers for over a year, which is crazy to say! I can't believe baby G is a year old. Ten months into our cloth diaper journey, Wendy of Londonware contacted me to review her fleece diaper covers. I knew many pocket diapers use fleece as a liner, but I had never considered using it as a cover. I was a bit apprehensive about how it would work for us, but I ended up loving it! I've since found that many tried & true cloth diaper moms love the combination of fitted diapers and fleece covers as the most absorbent option around. Check out my review of her handmade items below & be sure to enter the giveaway to her Etsy shop as the Babies First Birthday Blog Party continues!
How cute is baby G in her Londonware cover and leg warmers?!
Why Londonware is great for one-year-olds
When you buy products from Londonware, you are supporting a work at home mom. Wendy gives great personal customer service and takes care to craft her items to meet the quality you expect from Etsy shops. She offers regular diaper cover styles, as well as skirties and longies--plus a few additional items. Londonware diaper covers are perfect for older babies and toddlers because they offer optimal leak protection on active babies, but they would be a great addition to any cloth diaper stash. All of Londonware's products come from a smoke-free home.

Anti-Pill Fleece Diaper Cover ($7.50)

Material. Londonware Etsy shop has many adorable prints to choose from, and all are fleece fabric. Fleece is great for diaper covers because it is breathable, soft to the touch, and naturally wicks moisture away from baby's diaper area. I've found fleece to reduce G's chance of redness or irritation because it allows air to flow much better than PUL covers. You can use them over any diaper that needs a cover--fitteds, prefolds, or flats. I was worried that G's clothes would get wet since fleece isn't 100% water proof, but by the time she needs a diaper change, the inside of the cover is rarely even damp. Wendy sews an extra soaker pad into the 'wet zone' for added absorbency. I combine our Londonware cover with a quality fitted for leakproof peace of mind. If it's still dry after one use, I re-use it again before tossing it in our diaper pail. Londonware covers are easy to maintain--wash with the rest of your cloth diapers.

Size. Londonware covers are offered in newborn through large sizes, but Wendy also makes extra-large covers for $1 more. Check her Etsy shop for standard measurements. If you contact her, she can make suggestions based on your baby's specific sizes.

Use. I really put the Londonware fleece cover to the test from the get-go. The first time we used it, I decided to try it for nap time over a Mother-ease fitted diaper with stay dry insert. I didn't anticipate G taking a THREE hour nap. She usually naps for an hour or so. I was really freaking out after 2 hours, because I was sure she would leak through the cover and wake up in a puddle. When she finally woke up an hour later, I was SO pleased to find her sheets, jammies, and outside of the cover dry. The cover was barely damp on the inside, despite the fitted being soaked. From then on, I trusted the Londonware cover for anytime use. I've also used it over our Kissaluvs fitteds with great results. I haven't personally used it over prefolds or flats, but so long as you snappi or pin those diapers, I'm sure the Londonware fleece cover would work for you.

Baby G's verdict: I think that baby G loves the cozy fit of her Londonware fleece diaper cover. There isn't any bulk from snaps or aplix. Because it is a sized cover, there's no added weight from extra material necessary on one-size covers. Her diaper area is able to breathe underneath the fleece and she seems to like the feel of it. The only downside is that it is harder to put on than snap/aplix covers because it has to slide over her feet and up her legs. The price point is awesome and it's held up well over the past two months.

Leg Warmers ($4-6)
Leg warmers make diaper changes really quick because they can stay on, unlike pants. Londonware's shop currently lists only 3 different pairs, but I'm sure Wendy could make some more to match any diaper cover you buy from her. Londonware's leg warmers come 12.5 - 14 inches long. She sent me some great purple ones that match G's diaper cover just enough to look super cute together. They are, however, a bit too long for her stubby legs that she sadly inherited from me. I typically roll the bottom up, but it will come undone and drag the ground sometimes. I'm glad that she'll grow into them as she begins to walk more. They can also be used as arm warmers. Check out the photo below that shows the two different cuffs. One is stretchy elastic to stay up on baby's legs and the other is hemmed for a clean look.
I've rolled one leg up in each photo to show the underside compared to the outside
Baby G's verdict: I like leg warmers because they keep G's legs warm while showing off her super cute diapers. They also stop her legs from getting rug-burn while she crawls around our home. I don't use them while we are out of the house, though, because she loves to pull them off and play with them! They are an adorable addition to her large purple wardrobe. I think they are really handy, but definitely more of a luxury than a necessity.
