Bummas Cloth Wipe Review & Giveaway

Swap your commercial wipes for some eco-friendly, soft, terry cloth diaper wipes that will last beyond the days in diapers. -- Bummas website

Through the research I've done during our switch to cloth wipes, I found one company that makes only cloth wipes--Bummas. Because they specialize in awesome resusable wipes, I just had to try some--and share them with you, of course! I love that they are made in the USA (California) and come rolled up in a bundle displaying all of the edge colors. Bummas also reduced their price for 2012--instead of $16.99, they are now only $15!

My Review
Bummas Cloth Wipes Sold in sets of 10, in various color combinations

Quality Material. Bummas cloth wipes are made of 100% woven velour terry cotton. These are my favorite feeling wipes that we have tried. They are like a wash cloth you'd find the Queen of England using...they are that luxurious. One side is a soft velour that I like to use for patting G dry, while the other side is more textured terry that is great for cleaning up messy diapers. We've been using Bummas for over a month now and they feel just like they did when I received them. They have not shrunk, and definitely haven't pilled up. If I were making my own cloth wipes, I'd definitely choose the material of Bummas over any other.

Colors. We received The Wild Ones for our review. They are a ten pack of all different color Bummas. Several are white with various colored edge thread, while others are vibrant colors with different colored thread edges. There are five color pack options. Check them all out on the Bummas website.

Size. My only complaint about Bummas is the size, they are a 5x7" rectangle with square edges. While it is definitely a handy size, I have found myself using more than one to get the job done during a "dirty diaper" changing. For simple "wet" diaper changes, I always reach for a Bummas because the size is perfect for wiping on one half, and drying with the other half.

Care. Like all of our other cloth wipes, you can wash Bummas with your diapers. I throw the dirty ones in our diaper pail, and they go through the same routine on wash day. Bummas are made to last beyond G's days in diapers, so our future children will get to experience these durable wipes too.

Use. I cannot stress to you how simple using cloth wipes has become in our household. Even my husband has told friends and family that it's "not nearly as hard as I thought it would be." Use a bit of water, a homemade solution, or a commercial wipe spray with your Bummas to make diaper changes a breeze. We've even used a clean one for post-dinner face/hand washing when all of G's wash cloths were dirty. I have to admit, it was better than her regular ones.
The packaging on Bummas suggests these other great uses:
  • "Avert the squirt when changing diapers"
  • simply dry baby after cleaning up
  • use as burp cloths or "shoulder armor"
  • take-along for quick cleanups
  • use for nose wipes
  • use as bath time cloths

You can purchase Bummas on their website, and from many online or local retailers. Be sure to follow them on Twitter and like them on Facebook--you'll also get bonus entries in the giveaway for doing so.

  1. Most of the wipes I have seen have been about the same size as a washcloth so size isn't really as much of an issue as is the softness of the cloth.

  2. I haven't really had much experience with different fabrics or sizes, but it'd love to try some more out to see what I like best!

  24. Surprisingly, more material is not important to me. I actually found that smaller wipes are better at getting poop away since they don't get in the way.

  32. I actually don't think size it really a factor for me. The small seem to be better for poop really. The material is more of a factor. Something soft

    ReplyDelete
  33. I really like a good size wipe. I think that as long as they are soft and work well the content isn't to big of a factor.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I don't think that the size of the wipes really matter that much. I don't want them to be too bulky or they get in the way. I do want them to have enough texture that they pick up stuff, but not so textured that they upset the little tushie!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Color isn't important, but we go for natural fibers and preferably organics.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Wipes need to be big enough that I won't get any poop on my hand. I usually use 8"x8" size.

    ReplyDelete
  76. It does have to be big enough to get all the poop on the wipe then on the hand.

    ReplyDelete

    Elizabethtrotter05@yahoo.com

    ReplyDelete
  87. I currently use disposable. I'm thinking of switching . I think that size doesn't. Matter. But they have to be soft and do the work clean ! Elizabethtrotter05@yahoo.com

    ReplyDelete
  88. i would get the girls set. house of three little girls so it would fit perfectly :)

    ReplyDelete
  89. i think size does matter on wipes. i don't want a wipe there's barely the size of my palm because I'll have to use possibly 3-4 just with one poo diaper.

I like wipes like bummas because they offer texture to help assist in cleaning the bum. soft wipes that just move around when you try to use them end up being a pain!

I used disposable wipes when we had disposable diapers but the same day we switched to cloth diapers, we broke out the cloth wipes as well

    ReplyDelete
  93. I use cloth wipes at home -- I find that the small ones are only good for wet diaper changes, so a larger size is good for messy changes! As for fabrics, out of what I have, flannel is my favorite. ngiraldi at gmail dot com

    ReplyDelete
  94. I use cloth wipes occasionally, and size does matter. If they're too small, they crumple in the hand while wiping so they need to cover the hand completely and hang over to be big enough.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I would choose the Girls set for my two beauties.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I use cloth wipes for wet diapers and disposables for poopy ones. I'm still on the lookout for cloth ones that are large enough to handle messy diapers!

    ReplyDelete

  108. I don't find size specifically matters in wipes. That is to say, I use a variety of sizes for different sizes of jobs! I use Earths Best Organic disposable wipes when we're out somewhere I don't think I'll have good sink access, but only cloth at home or when going to a friend or family members' place.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I would pick the boys!

    ReplyDelete
  110. I would say that fabric and quality matter more than size when it comes to cloth wipes!

    ReplyDelete
  111. I like disposable sized wipes. I currently have two types, terry cloth and flannel. I like the flannel better, but the terry cloth ones work just fine. I guess the size is more important to me.
